18-07-2012 14.00
41209 fans braved the pouring rain at
Pity´s Colloseum.
Lukas Einbecker was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stuart MacNeill and
Michaël D'imstenraedt.
COPS tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Iros - Gambini, Georgiev, Piasenzotto - Inácio Oliveira, Mandarić, Derviş, Bazzanti, Knedlík - Tholen, Niebauer.
Tottenham decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Hodulák - Botrel, Haukeland, Roschig - Bertelsen, Podhorský, Hansen, Shalom, De Meyer - Milton, Poulsen.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
B. Niebauer showed great heart and had a good game.
A mistake by the home side's central defence after 12 minutes allowed
O. Botrel to score for Tottenham. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1.
The crowd was on its feet 21 minutes into the match, as COPS's
P. Bazzanti found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser.
22 minutes in, COPS's
Z. Mandarić received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
With 23 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
E. De Meyer put the ball away for 1 - 2.
After 25 minutes of play,
P. Bazzanti equalised for COPS after an elegant attack from the right.
The guests took the lead 26 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
O. Poulsen scoring to make it 2 - 3.
Tottenham increased the lead to 2 - 4 as
O. Poulsen scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner.
The players of Tottenham now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Z. Mandarić knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the COPS player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game.
Tottenham were forced into a substitution as
A. Shalom couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
P. Horvát to come in off the bench.
It was 2 - 4 at the break.
Possession in this half belonged to Tottenham, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
T. Bertelsen spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
G. Georgiev charged down the left and looked sure to score for COPS 72 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide.
H. Roschig sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from
O. Poulsen after 74 minutes of play, making the score 2 - 5.
The coach of Tottenham was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 80 minutes,
L. Min Yong came on for
M. Podhorský.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
V. Knedlík from COPS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 85 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
T. Milton's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Tottenham, he bravely continued in the match.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Tottenham, with 51 percent of the ball.
COPS's top performer was clearly
P. Bazzanti.
E. Iros was a disappointment, however.
T. Milton performed admirably for Tottenham.
However,
P. Horvát made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 5.
