Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 35000 to Murderheim Arena. Angelbert van Oorschot was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Axel Nehm and Ralph Ravn. People from all over Aust-Agder had joined up for the derby. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Masakerne. Lineup: Kokalanov - Tůma, Kwapis, Kapanen - Åhntorp, Håkonsen, Silverquist, Anasagasti, Barilski - Romanec, Christiansen.

GrouseHunters decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. Starters: Kumar - Queiroga, Neuville - Hjort, bin Baharom, Mikaelsen, Marín, Skjelvik - Andreassen, Dalland, Parée.

Masakerne mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. After 11 minutes, GrouseHunters's H. Hjort made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The home crowd was not impressed when T. Dalland came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 23 minutes. GrouseHunters were now up 0 - 2. With the scoreboard showing that 33 minutes had been played, GrouseHunters nearly put themselves up another goal after H. Hjort came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. Masakerne's T. Kapanen got himself booked for a foul. The referee signalled a penalty 39 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box. H. Hjort knocked it home to make the score 0 - 3. By now, the players in GrouseHunters felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to GrouseHunters, who controlled the ball 60 percent of the time.

O. Mikaelsen was, after 48 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper G. Kokalanov made the save. With 50 minutes played, O. Mikaelsen nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. With 55 minutes played, Masakerne's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to J. Silverquist he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 3. P. Parée of GrouseHunters took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 56 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 4. J. Silverquist challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 59 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. After 60 minutes GrouseHunters tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, T. Dalland's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. With 75 minutes played, J. Silverquist of Masakerne fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. GrouseHunters had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.

J. Romanec performed admirably for Masakerne. On the other hand, L. Åhntorp's play was disheartening. The most dominating GrouseHunters player was without a doubt O. Mikaelsen. H. Andreassen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.
