19-07-2012 00.15
48078 spectators had come to
El Mendigo Estadio this cloudy day.
Manuel Neuhauser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Frederik Kautz-Prinke and
Gaston De Keukeleire.
All of
Panama was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Mendigos had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Torres Alonso - Coba, Canazza, Wietzlow, Stoislaff - Marradi, Chirilă, Gehmann - Gaude, Massinen, Masili.
Juniors tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Saba - Ciaschini, Grööngård, Caillet - Lavallén, Lagunas, Meseşan, Gavín, Madrid - Alting Bles, Perrod.
Mendigos tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 32 minutes into the match left Juniors's
E. Gavín completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
J. Torres Alonso got a fingertip on
B. Lavallén's shot from the left 36 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
A. Alting Bles would have put Juniors up another goal 37 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing.
The referee showed Mendigos's
S. Coba the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
0 - 1 was the score after the first half.
Possession in this half belonged to Juniors, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
With 49 minutes played,
A. Caillet nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
R. Grööngård came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
J. Torres Alonso but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Mendigos had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
After 69 minutes,
B. Gaude made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1.
Juniors took the lead after 70 minutes making the score 1 - 2.
A. Alting Bles placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
Always a threat,
J. Madrid tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting
I. Perrod who should have easily scored for Juniors, but the ball went wide.
Juniors enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
The most dominating Mendigos player was without a doubt
M. Masili.
However,
S. Coba made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Juniors player was
M. Meseşan.
Á. Lagunas turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 2.
