Serra was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Canape's L. Muraglia after 9 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead. It was a bad day for the usually speedy L. Kulik. The mud seemed to slow him down. Against a lesser team, Canape could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 20 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. N. Ganeroso could have put his team up another goal 27 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. Boldano's Ə. Əliyev was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 29 minutes. Thighs bulging, C. Mota charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. After 35 minutes of game time, L. Muraglia had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but R. Emasabel was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Canape had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Canape came close to extending their lead as L. Gyllenstrand delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 65 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Boldano, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 66 minutes played, Ə. Əliyev of Boldano made the score 1 - 1. Boldano had a good opportunity to take the lead as L. Kulik came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of A. Brás. Canape had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 75 minutes in when N. Ganeroso came up alone against R. Emasabel who managed a block. Canape's L. Muraglia was shown a yellow card after 76 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Ə. Əliyev of Boldano spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. With 80 minutes gone, Boldano's Ə.
