previous 2/10 next 4/10  F.C.V.D. 0 - 3 Dodgers (393248212)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 857 that came out to De Tempel aan de dijk. Shunnar Hamdan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Mario Lichtenfels and Christian Marx. F.C.V.D. decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. The following players took the field: Hoyos - Sarıasma, Cuyàs, Mobilia - Groos, Zevenbergen, Gaeddert, van Marken - Wierenga, van Seggelen, Israel.

Dodgers tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination. Lineup: Babatounde - Muller, Kostadinov, Pettersson, Kempers, Ayala - Pinto, Larsson, Márquez, Balotelli, Sas -.

F.C.V.D. clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Dodgers were determined to use their long shot ability. 21 minutes into the game, Dodgers had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. After 28 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Dodgers found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to inadequate. R. Márquez received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 30 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. Dodgers's slick passing moves completely confused the defence after 39 minutes, but thanks to E. Hoyos's miraculous save from J. Pinto's long shot the score remained unchanged. 43 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but D. Muller, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. After 43 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Dodgers's M. Balotelli being carried off the pitch and replaced by P. Andersson. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dodgers, with 55 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Dodgers was able to get his message across, and raised Dodgers's organisation to solid. After 46 minutes, the Dodgers coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving J. Sas off the field. J. Pinto took his place. The Dodgers free kick 53 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of S. Pettersson, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 1! P. van Marken of F.C.V.D. was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. J. Pinto was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Dodgers counterattack from the left after 70 minutes. His neat finish made the score 0 - 2. Dodgers's H. Larsson was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 71 minutes. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for F.C.V.D., as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. F. van Seggelen challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 72 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. H. Larsson could have put his team up another goal 82 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. 83 minutes in, Dodgers appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. J. Pinto of Dodgers took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 85 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. 86 minutes into the game, H. Larsson had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came F. Gago. Possession in this half belonged to Dodgers, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

Most important F.C.V.D. player was I. Israel. U. Mobilia was a disappointment, however. Dodgers's top performer was clearly L. Kempers. However, P. Andersson made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 3.
