previous 1/10 next 3/10  Chaoticians 5 - 1 Hubble (393249355)

2121 spectators arrived at The Mandelbrot Set, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Aart Kleute was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Laurenţiu Enache and Polykarpos Neopidis. Chaoticians started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Lineup: Schwarz - Wilson, Tejada - Smith, Kenyon, Ashcraft, Muse, Werner - Shields, Tobias, Plazas.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Hubble. Starters: Ciccillo - Dall'Armellina, Insaurbe, Devisme - Zanzottera, Weissenbach, Vidal, Lass, Bagnoli - Falkner, Pączek.

Chaoticians immediately set off using their skill at pressing their opponents. At 8 minutes played, E. Wilson came in from the right with the intention of giving Chaoticians the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. Chaoticians's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. D. Ashcraft caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 20 minutes. This gave Chaoticians the 1 - 0 lead. A well placed corner kick from E. Lass was followed by A. Pączek's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Hubble, the score now 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Hubble, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

As the 50 minute mark approached, the Hubble coach decided it was time for a substitution. A. Zanzottera reluctantly made way for A. Catalano on the pitch. A. Insaurbe would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. R. Andrés Álvaro entered the game for Hubble as the match clock showed 55 minutes. Chaoticians's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. 59 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Chaoticians substitution. J. Goff came on for C. Muse. The pressing tactics used by Chaoticians were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. Hubble had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. After 91 minutes, the Chaoticians coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving R. Smith off the field. A. Gruber took his place. 91 minutes into the game, Chaoticians wanted to bring some new energy to their game. S. Werner gave N. Beck a quick hug as he left the field. M. Schwarz looked great 108 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' E. Lass. R. Andrés Álvaro of Hubble was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. At this time in the match, Chaoticians were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. Still tied after extra time, the crowd was buzzing as the teams prepared for a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

Chaoticians's E. Wilson coolly put the ball past P. Ciccillo. 2 - 1. Hubble's S. Bagnoli penalty shot was very well placed but M. Schwarz went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 2 - 1. Oooh - how unlucky! Chaoticians's M. Schwarz attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of P. Ciccillo. The score stays 2 - 1. Hubble's P. Ciccillo looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 2 - 1. Chaoticians's L. Shields kept his cool as he faced down P. Ciccillo. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 3 - 1. Clearly nervous from the start, Hubble's R. Andrés Álvaro took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 3 - 1. Chaoticians's D. Kenyon showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 4 - 1. Hubble's E. Dall'Armellina looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Chaoticians's P. Tejada was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 5 - 1! Hubble's A. Catalano didn't hesitate but M. Schwarz managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 5 - 1 score. M. Schwarz performed admirably for Chaoticians. On the other hand, N. Beck's play was disheartening. Hubble's best player was B. Falkner. P. Ciccillo turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 1.
