Brooklyn 2 - 2 ATTAQUE
(393250223)

18-07-2012 09.30
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 3488 to
Arroganz Arena.
Mattias Rosenhall was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Gigel Gheorghe and
Arkādijs Vaiders.
Brooklyn tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
Lineup: Harrer - Wagner, Compaq, Mueller - Gassner, Karst, Bellone, Schmalzer - Budai, Grasser, Jäger.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for ATTAQUE.
They fielded: Skartados - Mollenkopf, Aanen, Stražičić, Elisabeth - Gervasoni, Purim, Kelter, Dymiński - Razak, Hiddemann.
It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why
V. Purim found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork.
0 - 1 was the score with 26 minutes played, after
O. Gervasoni cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for ATTAQUE.
Brooklyn tried to even things up by sending a long ball towards the centrally placed strikers, but the visitors' defence got the best of this rather direct style of play.
ATTAQUE's
S. Aanen got himself booked for a foul.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Brooklyn, as
H. Wagner left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
M. Dubiš took his place on the field.
Halftime score was 0 - 1.
ATTAQUE enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
After 49 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
O. Gervasoni a chance to increase the lead for ATTAQUE, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2.
The referee showed Brooklyn's
J. Karst the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A well placed corner kick from
G. Compaq was followed by
P. Schmalzer's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Brooklyn, the score now 1 - 2.
With 73 minutes played,
G. Hiddemann nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
After 74 minutes,
P. Gassner made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2.
Brooklyn's
Á. Budai tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Possession in this half belonged to Brooklyn, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
Brooklyn's top performer was clearly
M. Jäger.
However,
P. Schmalzer made a disastrous appearance.
ATTAQUE's best player was
M. Stražičić.
On the other hand,
V. Purim's play was disheartening.
The match ends 2 - 2.
