18-07-2012 12.30
2204 spectators had found their way to
Gol Taker Arena, despite the heavy rain.
Claus-Peter Tatarek was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mario D'Urso and
Sebas van Geuns.
A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Taker.
The following players took the field: Rentenberger - Batllosera, Montironi, Métenier, Ram de Liñan - Argüelles, Pândaru, López Ramos, Caragol, Estade - Biģis.
Rheinhessen started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Marthaler - Girelli, Haunstein, Belbers - Grimau, Enzl, Lanzenstiel, Gutierrez, Alves - Kurtela, Scheuerfeld.
With 18 minutes played,
P. Grimau of Rheinhessen fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
The muddy pitch made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit
J. Scheuerfeld just fine.
Taker's
D. Batllosera tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
M. López Ramos got himself booked. The manager of Taker was not happy.
36 minutes into the match, Rheinhessen nearly took the lead, as
P. Enzl broke through on the right.
M. Rentenberger made the save, however.
Taker could have put themselves ahead after 38 minutes but
L. Caragol missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
43 minutes into the match Rheinhessen's
S. Girelli couldn't take advantage of the penalty kick to put his team up by a goal.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0.
Taker claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
65 minutes into the game, Rheinhessen wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
P. Enzl gave
M. Buddel a quick hug as he left the field.
As the 70 minute mark approached, the Rheinhessen coach decided it was time for a substitution.
J. Scheuerfeld reluctantly made way for
A. González on the pitch.
76 minutes in, Taker appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Rheinhessen substitution.
C. Gruschi came on for
P. Grimau.
The referee showed Taker's
F. Ram de Liñan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
83 minutes into the game, Taker seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
A. Pândaru, but the Taker player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0!
Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
C. Gruschi was very close to getting through after 89 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms.
Taker's
K. Biģis saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 89 minutes.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Taker, with 56 percent of the ball.
Taker's best player was
K. Biģis.
However,
F. Ram de Liñan made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Rheinhessen player was
M. Kurtela.
On the other hand,
E. Alves's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 0.
