previous 7/10 next 9/10  Olympique 6 - 0 Footbal (393268442)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 2678 had shown up at Monster Park for the match. Thierry Korver was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Martin Bugl and Miguel Ángel Gil. Olympique tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Merčep - Manero, Fontalquer - Rousselle, Zaliani, Deschamps, Pallini, Di Lello - Kupfer, Arjmandpour, Tzvetanov.

Footbal started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Päkkilä - Huhtaniska, Willockx - Caballero, Talpău, Part, Bruns, Tejada - Rantavuori, Mehta, Lázaro Serrano.

After 5 minutes of play, L. Di Lello gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. After 8 minutes, K. Arjmandpour put Olympique ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. G. Zaliani unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. 25 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as B. Tzvetanov broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Olympique. Confident in their lead, Olympique's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. J. Deschamps increased Olympique's lead to 4 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. It was 4 - 0 at the break. Olympique claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

With 49 minutes played, Olympique's S. Rousselle almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Olympique were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 55 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by J. Deschamps. 5 - 0 for the home side. Olympique's L. Di Lello increased the lead to 6 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 60 minutes. T. Mehta of Footbal was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Possession in this half belonged to Olympique, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

Olympique's best player was G. Zaliani. B. Tzvetanov on the other hand, had a terrible day. P. Part performed admirably for Footbal. O. Caballero was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 0.
