(393278901)

18-07-2012 12.25
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2857 to
La Madriguera Galáctica.
Mauri Jara was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mónico Pech and
Antero Mankinen.
Stephan tactics involved an interesting 5-2-3 combination.
Lineup: Mortadela - Silva, Rabinad, Serra, Meléndez, De Bonis - Cebrià, Gray - Carrizo, Urdiales, Curiel.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Santa Fe.
They fielded: Pohtola - Budisch, Mixon, Jaworowicz, Tersino, Tsouloufis - Belisario, Savry, Anfuffo, Troussier - Hornbostel.
Stephan were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Santa Fe.
5 minutes into the game, Stephan wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
W. Mortadela gave
E. Niño a quick hug as he left the field.
Stephan broke through on the left 7 minutes into the game, with
D. Gray firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Meléndez from Stephan a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 25 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
T. Tersino's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Santa Fe, he bravely continued in the match.
With 34 minutes played,
D. Gray could have brought this one home for Stephan as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
After 35 minutes Santa Fe tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately,
D. Mixon's shot sailed wide after his break down the right.
The referee showed Stephan's
T. De Bonis the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Santa Fe, as
J. Pohtola left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
Ó. Gaspar took his place on the field.
F. Cebrià could have put Stephan up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 42 minutes.
Santa Fe's
E. Anfuffo got himself booked for a foul.
1 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in this half belonged to Stephan, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.
F. Cebrià left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
M. Estadella was the replacement.
The coach of Stephan was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes,
P. Ternero came on for
Ó. Carrizo.
Santa Fe's counterattacks created a good chance for
E. Anfuffo on the right after 59 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
69 minutes into the game, Stephan had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
solid.
With 76 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Stephan resulted in a counterattack that set
S. Curiel free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Stephan, with 66 percent of the ball.
Stephan's best player was
E. Niño.
On the other hand,
P. Serra's play was disheartening.
Santa Fe's top performer was clearly
M. Hornbostel.
Ó. Gaspar turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 0.
