A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Morpheus. They fielded: Berenguel - Ruescas, Printz, Dyankov - Collazo, Azoca, Ruski, Mureddu, Żerdziński - Wahry, Knopfhart.

Royal tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Gurović - Ionescu, Toczek, Berndl - Taini, Gellért, Zorloni, Knölman, Vanslembrouck - Versavel, Nieuwenburg.

The wings were the focus of most of Morpheus's attacks today. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to S. Knopfhart, but the Morpheus player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Royal's right side looked dangerous 5 minutes in, but L. Berenguel made a good save on M. Gellért's hard shot to the top corner. Cheers filled the stadium as E. Mureddu broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Morpheus. After 21 minutes Morpheus's L. Berenguel contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. The referee showed Royal's J. Vanslembrouck the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Royal claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.

After 46 minutes, Royal switched D. Gurović with Ł. Łosiewicz, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Royal needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes L. Berndl made way for H. Musiolik. The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Royal's coach gave F. Geeroms the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. Versavel reluctantly left the field. A. Ruescas had a fantastic opportunity to put Morpheus up another goal 71 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. M. Gellért received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 75 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. A bit later, Royal's F. Geeroms easily reduced the lead to 2 - 1 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. R. Żerdziński of Morpheus received a yellow card after 85 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. S. Ruski could have increased the lead after 87 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Possession in this half belonged to Royal, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Most important Morpheus player was E. Wahry. However, L. Azoca made a disastrous appearance. J. Vanslembrouck performed admirably for Royal. On the other hand, Ł. Łosiewicz's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
