previous 2/10 next 4/10  Cambodia 1 - 5 Bango (393295682)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and DLM Cambodia Super Arena saw a crowd turnout of 1529. Patrick Gauser was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tomas Niklasson and Kai Gschaider. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Cambodia. The following players had been chosen: Zerpernick - Pou, Heang, Chon - Kim, Alizadeh, Sin, Aun - Chak, Thybo, Jakobsen.

Bango decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Hey - Fritschi, Muckert, Klosterfrau - Blandin, Deyer, Kemilev, Waser - Naja, Odină, Marchèse.

Bango saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Cambodia got a penalty shot 26 minutes into the game, but A. Chon scuffed the shot slightly and L. Hey was able to block. Bango took the lead after 30 minutes making the score 0 - 1. J. Naja placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. After a scuffle in the guests' penalty area 31 minutes into the game, the home team was awarded a penalty. A. Chon scored to make it 1 - 1. Bango's D. Kemilev gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 36 minutes with a superb strike from the right. R. Odină increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 3. 1 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Bango, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.

G. Deyer wanted to play on, but the Bango coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 55 minutes into the game by C. Valser. E. Muckert left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 63 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. G. Buerki was the replacement. The Bango captaincy was handed to C. Valser. Encouraged by their lead, after 65 minutes the Bango coach asked G. Buerki to change positions with S. Klosterfrau. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Bango coach let G. Alpiger replace S. Klosterfrau after 71 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, S. Pou got himself booked. The manager of Cambodia was not happy. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by S. Marchèse. At last, Bango's D. Kemilev was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 4. After this, you could see that the players of Bango were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. S. Marchèse of Bango took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 84 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 5. G. Alpiger of Bango was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Bango claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

Cambodia's top performer was clearly K. Jakobsen. However, A. Chon made a disastrous appearance. Most important Bango player was R. Odină. On the other hand, C. Valser's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 5.
