Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Tâmpăscu Arena saw a crowd turnout of 1364.
Chellaram Tripathi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Arsenio Gallo and
Jure Čirjak.
Beiuş decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Colin - Brinson, Vătavu, Vasile - Grigoriu, Rokić, Agăfiţei, Blendea - Tieman, Silveirinha, Sousa Gomes.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Atlético.
The following players had been chosen: Rivas - Pessina, Odeurs, Sagastigutxia - Tzouroudis, Ventosa, Kruglyak, van Ammelrooij, Lindby - Pinto, Utrillas.
Beiuş tried to focus their attacks down the middle.
Atlético mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Beiuş were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Beiuş took the lead 14 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
I. Vasile elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Beiuş's
G. Silveirinha increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
After 25 minutes,
G. Silveirinha put Beiuş ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Cheers filled the stadium as
R. Tieman broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Beiuş.
By now, the players in Beiuş felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Beiuş, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
Halftime score was 4 - 0.
Beiuş claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.
After 46 minutes of the match, the manager still hoped to turn things around.
F. Utrillas was ordered to assume a different position on the pitch. He took the place of
B. Ventosa, who in turn replaced his team mate.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Atlético's
P. Tzouroudis was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes.
M. Zausch was given a chance to change things around.
62 minutes into the game,
J. Colin had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
V. Krusanov.
After 69 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by Beiuş was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
After 76 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
G. Silveirinha gave the Beiuş supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0.
That made three goals for
G. Silveirinha and he was marked down for the hat trick.
77 minutes in, Beiuş's

Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
