(393307348)

19-07-2012 01.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 381 at
Campus Utn a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Stefan Larsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Mattias Vikbeck and
Maurizio Toldo.
Unidas had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation.
The following players took the field: Gaiteri - Hamid, Pesoa, Grammatica - dos Santos, Serrizuela, Zelaya, Padin - Yssing Hansen, Drobilitsch, Castiglione.
STONE started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Mackiewicz - Zucchi, Spada, Luttitz - Gradín, Flück, Jepson, Bankl, Vale - Aronin, Bauer.
Down the middle came
D. Aronin, making a fantastic play that nearly had STONE take the lead after 8 minutes, but
C. Gaiteri preserved the tie.
STONE's
G. Spada gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 14 minutes with a superb strike from the right.
With 33 minutes played, STONE put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
S. Luttitz.
S. Jepson of STONE received a yellow card after 34 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
After 35 minutes,
K. Bankl sent the corner kick right to
S. Jepson who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 3!
By now, the players in STONE felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
With 36 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Q. Flück of STONE to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 4.
It was 0 - 4 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by STONE, with 64 percent of the ball.
Some fine movement on the left led to a STONE goal after 56 minutes, making it 0 - 5.
G. Spada was noted down as the scorer.
The home crowd cheered when, after 59 minutes,
K. Bankl's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
K. Bankl came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
C. Gaiteri but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
The referee showed STONE's
G. Zucchi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
G. Spada was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 82 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
C. Gaiteri got a fingertip on
S. Bauer's shot from the left 85 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
After 86 minutes, STONE's
K. Bankl fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
Possession in this half belonged to STONE, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.
The most dominating Unidas player was without a doubt
J. dos Santos.
L. Pesoa turned in a dismal performance, however.
STONE's top performer was clearly
G. Spada.
On the other hand,
P. Mackiewicz's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 5.
