659 fans braved the pouring rain at
Taker Arena.
Helmut Sünter was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
João Dolores and
Thom Hamster.
Taker started off with a 5-4-1 lineup.
They fielded: Piqueres - Montero, Martínez Rueda, Méndez, Garaño, Ainsbury - Rusu, Ravnås, Jore, Tinel - Carvalho.
panzeths tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: López Seco - Maravilha, Höse, Weiss - Wahry, Assmann, Sinai, Silyanov, Vervoort - Höstwald, Ivy.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Taker.
panzeths seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
The celebrations in the stands could only mean one thing -
J. Carvalho's free kick had found the back of the net and put Taker ahead 1 - 0!
P. Ravnås spent most of the time in a heap on the ground today, his normally rapid movement hindered by the slippery pitch.
K. Tinel was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
panzeths tied it all up, 21 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by
L. Ivy, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1.
panzeths's
L. Ivy got himself booked for a foul.
With the clock showing 24 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Taker resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by
L. Jore in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high.
There was concern in the stands when, at the 32 minute mark, panzeths's
M. Höse hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
G. Vervoort would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
M. Magnusson entered the game for panzeths as the match clock showed 60 minutes.
63 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
L. Ivy, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a panzeths substitution.
J. Méndez came on for
M. Höse.
K. Tinel was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
A. Rusu seemed unable to profit from this excellent service.
Down the middle came
L. Ivy, making a fantastic play that nearly had panzeths take the lead after 67 minutes, but
D. Piqueres preserved the tie.
A questionable penalty 72 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 2 - 1. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as
J. Carvalho knocked the ball home.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 75 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
L. Ivy tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
Taker enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
Taker's top performer was clearly
L. Jore.
However,
D. Piqueres made a disastrous appearance.
panzeths's best player was
C. López Seco.
D. Wahry on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 1.
