J. Włoszczyński squirmed through their central defence after 33 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Devils had to make a substitution after 34 minutes. A. Marques limped off the field and was replaced by M. Waxman. With 36 minutes played, Devils's G. Bokelaar almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. 37 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as M. Gabso broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Devils. 38 minutes into the game, Devils were awarded a penalty that M. Myllykylä turned into 4 - 0 without a problem. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Devils enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 76 percent of possession.

Devils put themselves up 5 - 0 when A. Trobec broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Confident in their lead, Devils's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. It might be a while before the fans see Devils's G. Bokelaar again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 72 minute mark. He was replaced by G. Piwowarski. Devils solidified their lead at the 73 minute mark, as G. Andersen dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 6 - 0. A. Meskhidze of Honda received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 75 minutes, Devils sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached M. Gabso, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 7 - 0. The game was close to savage at times, and Devils's M. Myllykylä received a second yellow card after 82 minutes; his ticket out of the game. Honda's M. Carluccio went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. 84 minutes in, Devils's M. Gabso received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Honda were forced into a substitution as I. Dvalishvili couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing R. Hümbətov to come in off the bench. Honda had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 88 minutes, but A. Antonov's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. Devils had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.
