Clear skies welcomed the 1146 spectators who had made their way to Estádio Covelense. Luca Henrich was the appointed referee with assistance provided by José Mourinho and Phillip Dörflinger. EDC decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Ellenberger - Clements, Wallhalb, Koontz - Clarke, Guedes, Jurečko, Ramani - Gaze, Musuruana, Zonnenberg.

Pedini started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Matias - Feyo, Chaves, Barbosa - Oliveira, Ericeira, von Altenstadt, Borges, Ramos Cruz - Dias Nogueira, Galeano.

Given a free kick in a difficult position after 2 minutes, Pedini tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. L. Barbosa had a good try after 23 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide. 0 - 0 was the halftime score. Pedini claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 81 percent.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Pedini substitution. B. Pateiro came on for A. Oliveira. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when P. Borges slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against G. Ellenberger, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. The referee showed EDC's D. Guedes the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The guests almost went up by a goal after 78 minutes when F. Ericeira came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. Pedini enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 82 percent of possession.

Most important EDC player was P. Musuruana. D. Ramani was a disappointment, however. Pedini's top performer was clearly F. Ericeira. On the other hand, L. Matias's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 0.
