previous 3/10 next 5/10  CSPS:Bartolomeu 0 - 2 Active (393359931)

It had rained all day, but 2397 hardy fans still made it out to CSPS Arena. Olaf Aader was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ferdinand Vanderlijden and Sven-Erik Möllerling. CSPS:Bartolomeu decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. The following players had been chosen: Puelles - Lago, Pereira, Lavrador, Pires, Chincalece - Mareček, Rozhok, Sværke, Casciola - de Boer.

Active started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. Starters: Tomczak - Augustowski, Ortega - Li, Jaumot, Miranda, Parsons, Harighian - Psyta, Parenti, Merico.

CSPS:Bartolomeu used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Active used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. It was a bad day for the usually speedy K. Augustowski. The mud seemed to slow him down. CSPS:Bartolomeu's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. The pressing tactics used by CSPS:Bartolomeu were successful as the ball remained close to the half way line at all times. 31 minutes into the match, the visiting Active made the score 0 - 1 after V. Merico executed a perfect free kick. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Active had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.

CSPS:Bartolomeu pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like D. Pires. The home crowd cheered when, after 73 minutes, R. Jaumot's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The visitors added to their lead 81 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Active's V. Merico slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 2. Active enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.

Most important CSPS:Bartolomeu player was P. Chincalece. On the other hand, L. de Boer's play was disheartening. The most dominating Active player was without a doubt J. Parsons. N. Parenti on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 2.
