previous 5/10 next 7/10  Naranjo 2 - 5 Avangardiste (393387869)

2474 punters turned up at Carlos Rodolfo Mialofsky, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Johan Hörerberg was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Feike Fischer and Claus Spanbauer. Naranjo decided to use a 3-4-2 set up. Lineup: Ferrer - Frausto, Tello, Villalobos - Tarar, Sanabria, Huqui, Ballester - Ramallo, Hernández.

Avangardiste had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation. Starters: Hava - Corrales, Düring, de Ramirás, Rugała - Seeberg, Christensen, Jansson - Soulier, Métivier, Koume.

Avangardiste's R. de Ramirás managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 12 minutes. 0 - 1. The visitors almost increased their lead after 13 minutes when a sweetly hit free kick looked like it was heading for the top corner. However the keeper managed to get a fingertip to it, sending it over the bar. Naranjo earned themselves a free kick after a counterattack wasn't dealt with adequately by their opponents. H. Hernández powered the shot in for 1 - 1. 1 - 2 was the score with 23 minutes played, after B. Métivier cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Avangardiste. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave R. Frausto from Naranjo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 26 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Unfortunately for Avangardiste, F. Corrales was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. D. Marcu replaced him. 28 minutes into the game, Naranjo seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organisation. After 33 minutes of game time, B. Koume had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but A. Ferrer was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Avangardiste, who controlled the ball 71 percent of the time.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Naranjo was able to get his message across, and raised Naranjo's organisation to passable. 47 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as B. Koume finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Avangardiste's L. Soulier got himself booked for a foul. Naranjo were forced into a substitution as L. Villalobos couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing C. Granados to come in off the bench. B. Métivier's speed was clear to see after 57 minutes, as he darted down the wing and released L. Soulier who placed the ball into the back of the net to make the score 1 - 4. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Avangardiste lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After 60 minutes, the Avangardiste players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. After 62 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave H. Düring a chance to increase the lead for Avangardiste, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 5. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Avangardiste coach let G. Di Gaetano replace B. Métivier after 67 minutes. R. de Ramirás of Avangardiste was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 75 minutes in, Naranjo appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. The coach of Avangardiste was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 80 minutes, P. Pileckas came on for L. Rugała. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when R. Frausto scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 2 - 5. 83 minutes in, Avangardiste's P. Pileckas received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 86 minutes into the match Naranjo's F. Tarar head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. Naranjo's N. Ballester refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 87 minutes. Against a lesser team, Avangardiste could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick routine after 89 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save. Avangardiste claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.

Most important Naranjo player was A. Ramallo. However, A. Ferrer made a disastrous appearance. Avangardiste's best player was D. Marcu. S. Hava turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 5.
