previous 1/10 next 3/10  Santana 7 - 6 Obeabe50 (393411358)

Clear skies welcomed the 50300 spectators who had made their way to Estàdio Sant'Estrellas. Jaber Rais was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vlado Prokop and Luc Isenschmied. All of Zürich was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Santana had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. They fielded: Marquie - Pålsson, Wyder, Coquin - Marelli, Dätwyler, Balmer, Einöder - Marchetti, Beuel, Vischer.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Obeabe50. Lineup: Griffaton - Veitschegger, Emili, Caretaker - Malinovič, Lochner, Rager, Anselmo, Tsioumplekos - Ilardi, Ahlberg.

Santana were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Obeabe50's G. Rager managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 21 minutes. 0 - 1. M. Marquie got a fingertip on G. Rager's shot from the left 23 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. Santana's L. Vischer got himself booked for a foul. B. Marelli couldn't do anything to stop the technically gifted W. Ahlberg as he dodged past on his way to scoring a wonderful goal for Obeabe50 - 0 - 2! After this, you could see that the players of Obeabe50 were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. Santana supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to L. Vischer who reduced the visitors' lead after 28 minutes to 1 - 2. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, F. Beuel got himself booked. The manager of Santana was not happy. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from W. Ahlberg after 38 minutes, and prevented Obeabe50 from going up another goal. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Obeabe50 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

The coach of Obeabe50 was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, M. Lo Bianco Corrado came on for T. Lochner. P. Tsioumplekos could have put his team up another goal 61 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. After 67 minutes of play, L. Vischer equalised for Santana after an elegant attack from the right. After 68 minutes, the Obeabe50 coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving S. Caretaker off the field. V. Egudin took his place. With the match clock at 68 minutes, Obeabe50 modified their style of play a little bit. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Obeabe50 substitution. J. Urban came on for D. Ilardi. C. Emili had a good opportunity to give Obeabe50 the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. Santana mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 81 minutes, but C. Einöder was unable to convert from short range. After 82 minutes, Santana's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. Obeabe50 had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time. A review of the gameplan helped Santana get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. 106 minutes in, Obeabe50's J. Urban received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. With the score still deadlocked after extra time, the teams took to the field for a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.

Santana's N. Balmer made no mistake. M. Griffaton didn't have a chance. 3 - 2. There aren't many players that have the cheek to take a penalty like that! Obeabe50's J. Urban showed he was one of them, as he made it 3 - 3. The crowd was awed by V. Coquin's finely placed shot for Santana making it 4 - 3. Boy, does W. Ahlberg of Obeabe50 know how to treat a football or what?! He's curled that shot past the keeper and into the top corner of the goal - a great penalty! 4 - 4. A terrible penalty by Santana's M. Marchetti somehow managed to make it past M. Griffaton making the score 5 - 4. Obeabe50's F. Anselmo was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 5 - 5! Santana's H. Dätwyler kept his cool as he faced down M. Griffaton. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 6 - 5. Obeabe50's C. Emili drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past the outstretched arm of M. Marquie. The score remains 6 - 5. Santana's K. Pålsson coolly put the ball past M. Griffaton. 7 - 5. Obeabe50's G. Rager showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 7 - 6. M. Marchetti performed admirably for Santana. However, K. Pålsson made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Obeabe50 player was without a doubt F. Anselmo. M. Griffaton was a disappointment, however. The match ends 7 - 6.
