Dark skies made the crowd of 50000 at Stade de l'Aigle-Fort a little nervous, but the rain held off. Slaven Janović was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ludvig Kaptein and Davy Brocks. Super-Eagles decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: Baras - Tunna, Sevindik, Hansen - Reschnik, Estrade, Peltier, Gey, Unterhauser - Bellaiche, Monge.

_Hybrid_ had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Mercier - Gélineau, Bellon, Yahia - Fareh, Sévère, Viard, Demade, Courtin - Gal, Granger.

Super-Eagles had a chance to take the lead after X. Estrade's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 2 minutes. The guests almost went up by a goal after 6 minutes when L. Granger came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. B. Gey sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from E. Sevindik after 21 minutes of play, making the score 1 - 0. After 25 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 1 - 1 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by R. Gal. Super-Eagles's X. Estrade was shown a yellow card after 28 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 33 minutes L. Granger made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to R. Gal who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 2. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 34 minutes gave Super-Eagles a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and A. Bellaiche stepped up to the challenge. 2 - 2 37 minutes into the game, A. Sévère almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Halftime score was 2 - 2. Super-Eagles had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.

53 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but R. Gal, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. After 54 minutes, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. E. Sevindik easily put the ball away to give the lead to Super-Eagles. 3 - 2 The visiting team's R. Gal was able to score the 3 - 3 equaliser with a header 58 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for R. Gal. _Hybrid_ almost scored after a swift counterattack 76 minutes into the game, but L. Granger put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Super-Eagles substitution. D. Dular came on for S. Tunna. After 80 minutes, Super-Eagles began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. The guests took the lead 81 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in S. Gélineau scoring to make it 3 - 4. Super-Eagles claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.

Super-Eagles's best player was H. Monge. J. Unterhauser on the other hand, had a terrible day. L. Granger performed admirably for _Hybrid_. R. Yahia turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 4.
