It had rained all day, but 57539 hardy fans still made it out to Colosseum. Jarno Antonissen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Gilberto Levesque and Alois Fischer. Ridderne were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Lamme`s. Lamme`s made it 0 - 1 as K. Nielsen got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to G. Tabi who whipped a low drive in off the far post. H. Skytte didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave S. Fuster from Lamme`s a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 26 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Had it not been for one of the home defenders, L. Vyvial would have put Lamme`s up another goal 31 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, S. Buch got himself booked. The manager of Lamme`s was not happy. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Ridderne claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

A. Haldrup of Lamme`s was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The coach of Lamme`s was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 57 minutes, P. Wollesen came on for S. Buch. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Lamme`s coach let L. Hove replace G. Tabi after 60 minutes. L. Vyvial left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. K. Schäffer was the replacement. The Ridderne players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. After 70 minutes, Ridderne switched A. Ruseski with E. Wegener, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. 71 minutes into the match, the speedy A. Nievas easily outpaced C. Rommedahl, chipped the keeper and made the score 1 - 1. Ridderne were very close to putting themselves one up after 79 minutes as H. Skytte got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. Ridderne took the lead, 2 - 1, after a penalty 83 minutes into the match. M. Vedby Rasmussen scored from the penalty spot. In the lead, Ridderne adjusted their style of play with 84 minutes gone. In an effort to secure the lead, Ridderne changed their tactic after 84 minutes. 86 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 2 - 2 as K. Schäffer struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. A. Rashid of Ridderne received a yellow card after 87 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when A. Haldrup slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against M. Oms, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Possession in this half belonged to Ridderne, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. E. Wegener had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. The crowd groaned its disapproval when M. Vedby Rasmussen missed a free kick that would have given Ridderne the lead after 100 minutes. Still tied after extra time, the crowd was buzzing as the teams prepared for a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

Ridderne's M. Vedby Rasmussen showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 3 - 2. Lamme`s's K. Broendsted made no mistake. M. Oms didn't have a chance. 3 - 3. Ridderne's N. From didn't hesitate but W. Fugiel managed the save, resulting in an unchanged 3 - 3 score. Lamme`s's K. Schäffer was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 3 - 4! Ridderne's P. Imbalzano drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past the outstretched arm of W. Fugiel. The score remains 3 - 4. Lamme`s's L. Hove looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 3 - 4. Ridderne's A. Nievas coolly put the ball past W. Fugiel. 4 - 4. Clearly nervous from the start, Lamme`s's P. Wollesen took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 4 - 4. Ridderne's L. Oropallo kept his cool as he faced down W. Fugiel. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 5 - 4. Lamme`s's A. Haldrup coolly put the ball past M. Oms. 5 - 5. Ridderne's K. Krogsdal made no mistake. W. Fugiel didn't have a chance. 6 - 5. Lamme`s's A. Alekseyuk made no mistake. M. Oms didn't have a chance. 6 - 6. Ridderne's I. Sabău showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 7 - 6. Lamme`s's W. Fugiel coolly put the ball past M. Oms. 7 - 7. Oh, the sweet feet of technical E. Wegener... His left one gave Ridderne a lovely goal. 8 - 7. Lamme`s's K. Nielsen made no mistake. M. Oms didn't have a chance. 8 - 8. Ridderne's H. Skytte cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Lamme`s's S. Fuster penalty shot was very well placed but M. Oms went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 8 - 8. Oooh - how unlucky! Ridderne's A. Rashid attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of W. Fugiel. The score stays 8 - 8. Lamme`s's D. Petersen was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 8 - 9! Ridderne's top performer was clearly H. Skytte. I. Sabău was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Lamme`s player was without a doubt D. Petersen. However, L. Hove made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 8 - 9.
