(393419804)

25-07-2012 18.00
44000 punters turned up at
Road to Glory Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Alexander Kikoll was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
William Collot and
Luud Geut.
Sieradz had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Starters: Mészáros - Fontaneda, Aksenov, Maggioni - Denz, Todorov, Rasmussen, Strandgaard, Konieczka - Bercean, Flautero.
Lumumbowo started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Borkowski - Sarkowicz, Cielebąk, Majkut - Karejoki, Ławrynowicz, Sztyber, Barwik - Drelichowski, Yonev, Julien.
K. Majkut of Lumumbowo seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
A. Karejoki.
After 17 minutes,
S. Maggioni got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away.
25 minutes in, and Sieradz were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when
I. Bercean picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Sieradz claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
D. Strandgaard was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Sieradz's
S. Maggioni managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 2 - 1
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
K. Majkut from Lumumbowo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 62 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Sieradz's
E. Rasmussen went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention.
After 77 minutes
A. Karejoki made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
J. Julien who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 2 - 2.
M. Fontaneda could have put Sieradz into the lead after 79 minutes, but the free kick went just wide.
K. Majkut of Lumumbowo got sent off for kicking the ball after the whistle, a completely uncalled for move, earning him his second yellow card of the game.
The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 84 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
M. Fontaneda, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Possession in this half belonged to Sieradz, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
The most dominating Sieradz player was without a doubt
E. Rasmussen.
However,
E. Konieczka made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Lumumbowo player was
J. Julien.
J. Barwik was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 2.
