3336 punters turned up at
berzlapes Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Basil Reynoso was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Torben Glaß and
Rado Kremenovič.
berzlapes tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Kvasov - Mgłosiek, Cedeño, Roca - Firmanty, Mellužs, Dobelnieks, Lisyutin, Khramov - Gervasoni, Vierikko.
Czakovia had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
They fielded: Lunassi - Jarząbek, Aubin, Snyers, Korteniemi, Zub - Masłowski, Poggio, Srebrzyński - Schliessleder, Meurice.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Czakovia.
After 9 minutes, berzlapes sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
J. Vierikko, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 0.
U. Gervasoni increased berzlapes's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
After 18 minutes,
A. Mellužs put berzlapes ahead 3 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
berzlapes put themselves up 4 - 0 when
J. Vierikko broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake.
Halftime score was 4 - 0.
berzlapes enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 81 percent of possession.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as berzlapes scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Firmanty after 54 minutes.
By now, the players in berzlapes felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
L. Poggio got himself booked. The manager of Czakovia was not happy.
With 57 minutes played,
M. Roca could have brought this one home for berzlapes as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
After 61 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
J. Vierikko might have resulted in another goal for berzlapes. However,
G. Lunassi made a spectacular save.
After 62 minutes, a counter attack by Czakovia was converted into a decent free kick opportunity. However, the indirect free kick routine was easily anticipated by the defenders. A textbook example of how to defend a free kick - the attackers were left with few viable options.
After 65 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
G. Khramov gave the berzlapes supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0.
The berzlapes free kick 67 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
J. Vierikko, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 7 - 0!
By then
J. Vierikko had scored three goals - a hat trick!
D. Piekutowski was called on to replace Czakovia's
J. Schliessleder after 75 minutes following a nasty collision.
berzlapes had most of the ball, with 84 percent of possession.
berzlapes's best player was
J. Vierikko.
A. Lisyutin turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Czakovia player was
D. Piekutowski.
On the other hand,
A. Zub's play was disheartening.
The match ends 7 - 0.
