previous 2/10 next 4/10  Siegers 4 - 1 jj50 (393435902)

Clear skies welcomed the 2914 spectators who had made their way to De Stelleplas. Per Billner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ove Myrquist and Mazin Yazdanyar. Siegers tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players took the field: Labán - Berlijn, Lautenbach, Held - van Olphen, Haandrikman, Singh, Izzo - Badoux, Tuama, Roep.

jj50 started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. Starters: Redon - Melanchthon, Drane, Alexandropoulos, Lavigne, Asaro - Currie, Ovelleiro, Hlel, Jenssen - Philip.

For their match strategy, jj50 had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Siegers took the lead 25 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as L. Badoux elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Coming from the right, G. Singh almost managed to score another goal for Siegers, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. After 29 minutes, jj50 were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick. Some things can only be learned through experience, and S. Asaro should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Siegers a goal with 33 minutes of the match played. jj50's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision! T. Melanchthon's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. 38 minutes into the game, jj50 had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. After 42 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and G. Singh gave the Siegers supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. With 43 minutes played, T. Tuama could have brought this one home for Siegers as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. jj50 showed their counterattack skill 44 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with F. Lavigne scoring uncontested for 2 - 1. jj50's G. Ovelleiro was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 44 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. Siegers claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 66 percent.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of jj50 was able to get his message across, and raised jj50's organisation to passable. 55 minutes into the match, Siegers's T. Tuama demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to R. Roep who chipped it in for 3 - 1. After this, you could see that the players of Siegers were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. R. Roep unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. 82 minutes into the game, jj50 seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. M. van Olphen squirmed through their central defence after 84 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1. jj50's S. Alexandropoulos left the field after 86 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was G. Ceroni. The crowd roared its approval when L. Labán somehow managed to block a shot which seemed to be a certain goal by jj50's Q. Philip 87 minutes into the game. Siegers enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.

Most important Siegers player was T. Tuama. On the other hand, C. Izzo's play was disheartening. jj50's top performer was clearly Q. Philip. F. Lavigne was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
