previous 2/10 next 4/10  Crossfire 6 - 0 TREBS (393439384)

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 3846 had shown up at Jumping Jack Park for the match. Ulf Andersson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Skirti Keqi and Clément Ecomard. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Crossfire. Starters: Filak - Roegiers, Páez, Sergeev - Podola, Vasconcellos, Glasl, Bauwens, Bory - Broeren, Wicherek.

TREBS tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Lengyel - Wels, Sentis, Šimko - Jančich, Haniščák, Gerbeľ, Gravelle, Mojský - Dybvik, Bozzi.

The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 10 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from J. Bauwens, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. Crossfire increased the lead as L. Bory struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 28 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as V. Vasconcellos broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Crossfire. It was 3 - 0 at the break. Crossfire enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

Crossfire managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when J. Bauwens cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Confident in their lead, Crossfire's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Crossfire put themselves up 5 - 0 when A. Broeren broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. With 74 minutes played, L. Wicherek could have brought this one home for Crossfire as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Crossfire coach let P. Duru replace D. Glasl after 80 minutes. After 83 minutes, Crossfire's V. Vasconcellos fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! After 84 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and P. Duru gave the Crossfire supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Crossfire, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

J. Bauwens performed admirably for Crossfire. However, P. Duru made a disastrous appearance. Most important TREBS player was P. Haniščák. M. Šimko on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 6 - 0.
