25-07-2012 19.20
Clear skies welcomed the 3067 spectators who had made their way to
Kambariukas stadium.
Adrián Muñoz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jesper Mangor and
Sebastien Balzarini.
Savivaldiečiai had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation.
Starters: Smith - Simionato, Siani, Masson, Düren, Tro - Sanz, Lassen, Pelutis, Băban - Andersson.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Koboltstadt.
The following players took the field: Øverby - Reinach, Pešić, Borck - Hoeden, Hatt, Šofr, Härtl-Müller, Ventosa - Maia Silva, Gerrassy.
Savivaldiečiai were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Koboltstadt.
H. Düren received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 13 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
34 minutes into the game, Koboltstadt seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organisation.
A. Sanz's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
M. Andersson was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Savivaldiečiai. 1 - 0.
Savivaldiečiai increased the lead as
H. Tro struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Koboltstadt's
U. Maia Silva had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 43 minutes having been played.
O. Acsády was the replacement.
44 minutes into the game, Koboltstadt seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
inadequate.
A great save by keeper
G. Øverby after 44 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
M. Siani struck from the left with a real cannonball.
2 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Savivaldiečiai enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.
A review of the gameplan helped Koboltstadt get back to a
solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
Koboltstadt fought on and, after 51 minutes,
H. Hatt was able to reduce the deficit to 2 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip.
With 84 minutes played,
M. Andersson could have brought this one home for Savivaldiečiai as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Savivaldiečiai, with 57 percent of the ball.
Most important Savivaldiečiai player was
G. Smith.
M. Andersson turned in a dismal performance, however.
O. Acsády performed admirably for Koboltstadt.
J. Borck on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 2 - 1.
