Clouds darkened the skies at Königshütte Arena as 2432 spectators turned up for the match. Gaétan Prioux was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Freddie van Groningen and Léon Meunier. Chorzów were determined to use their long shot ability. After 18 minutes, FCT's H. Borgbratt made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. A tussle 28 minutes into the match resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and R. Duim put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 1 - 1. After 35 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Chorzów found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to solid. 1 - 2 was the score with 36 minutes played, after R. Capobianco cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for FCT. The Chorzów free kick 37 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of H. Witthohn, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 2! Halftime score was 2 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by FCT, with 52 percent of the ball.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Chorzów was able to get his message across, and raised Chorzów's organisation to solid. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Chorzów substitution. P. Brolišs came on for F. Correia. The guests took the lead 67 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in H. Borgbratt scoring to make it 2 - 3. 72 minutes into the game, Chorzów had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. The visitors' H. Borgbratt took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 80 minutes into the match. 2 - 4 for FCT. That made three goals for H. Borgbratt and he was marked down for the hat trick. Confident in their lead, FCT's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. After 87 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for C. Cardinale who increased FCT's lead to 2 - 5. The referee showed Chorzów's P. Brolišs the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. A loud groan was heard from the fans of FCT, as C. Fogo left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. M. Mizrachi took his place on the field. Some fine movement on the left led to a FCT goal after 89 minutes, making it 2 - 6. A. Schlager was noted down as the scorer. F. Tomlin of Chorzów seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 3 - 6 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by R. Duim. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when P. Brolišs scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 4 - 6. Possession in this half belonged to FCT, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Chorzów's best player was P. Brolišs. E. Latorre was a disappointment, however. Most important FCT player was H. Borgbratt. M. Mizrachi turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 6.
