Clear skies welcomed the 2266 spectators who had made their way to Am Acker. Lucjan Gajer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Miguel Gaete and Aad Boon. BB had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Mimica - Vignola, Konetzny, Tiefel - Cruschwitz, Gstöttner, Babski, Kastrup, Westendorf - Sonner, Broszeit.

Today, Splinter's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Splinter made it 0 - 1 as J. Armijo got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to G. Melilli who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Players in Splinter heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. The crowd roared in delight as Z. Kastrup finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for BB 29 minutes into the match. 1 - 1. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Sonner from BB a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 33 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Splinter's C. Urquijo was shown a yellow card after 39 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvellous free kick after 40 minutes, but D. Mimica made a beautiful one-handed save. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 41 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Splinter's J. Armijo to one side and produced a red card for the player. Halftime score was 1 - 1. BB enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

BB's Z. Kastrup left the field after 49 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was S. Ensen. E. Quilapán behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 55 minutes as he gave the ball away to B. Westendorf. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Splinter's M. Hufnagel after 58 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead. The corner kick from M. Hufnagel was powerfully met by the head of A. Quesada to make the score 1 - 3. S. Ensen did everything he could to get one back for his BB, but keeper J. Masuelas denied him with a spectacular block. M. Sonner knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the BB player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. Possession in this half belonged to Splinter, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

BB's best player was B. Westendorf. S. Ensen was a disappointment, however. C. Urquijo performed admirably for Splinter. E. Quilapán turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
