previous 8/10 next 10/10  barranco 6 - 0 Liverpool (393495614)

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 1709 to barranco Arena. Martin Lawson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Juan Nalón and Kupe Hanlon. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for barranco. The following players had been chosen: Seaber - Canaval, Zuleta, Amieva - Busquets, Canet, Cordelle, Azoca, Pajares - Moscoso, Zaldo.

Liverpool decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Starters: Alaimo - Erdei, Salamon, Schwedler - Billeskov, Együd, Kroler, Litschi - Faragó, Iros, Mislei.

Liverpool showed off their creative tactics. It was a hot and sunny day, and several players seemed worn out. Maybe this was why M. Canet found an unusual amount of space for his snappy footwork. L. Zuleta gave barranco the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 barranco's C. Busquets swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. C. Csaba was called on to replace Liverpool's J. Litschi after 41 minutes following a nasty collision. 43 minutes into the game, Liverpool had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to inadequate. P. Amieva had a fantastic opportunity to put barranco up another goal 44 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 44 minutes, barranco did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, J. Azoca was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 2 - 0. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. barranco claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 77 percent.

A review of the gameplan helped Liverpool get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. It wasn't a good day at all for L. Zuleta. His powerful style of play just didn't fit the bill on this warm day. With 56 minutes played, barranco put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to J. Azoca, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Salamon got himself booked. The manager of Liverpool was not happy. Liverpool had to make a substitution after 63 minutes. R. Együd limped off the field and was replaced by D. van Amerongen. The fierce heat made it important to save breath, and after a few swift runs J. Azoca found it hard to get back into position. barranco put themselves up 4 - 0 when L. Moscoso broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. At this point, it was obvious that the players of barranco lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. Some things can only be learned through experience, and Z. Cordelle should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Liverpool a goal with 79 minutes of the match played. After 85 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Liverpool found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to passable. barranco increased the lead as A. Pajares struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. 87 minutes into the game, P. Salamon had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came D. Kellér. After 87 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and M. Zaldo gave the barranco supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0. After 88 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by L. Moscoso might have resulted in another goal for barranco. However, M. Alaimo made a spectacular save. barranco enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 78 percent of possession.

The most dominating barranco player was without a doubt Z. Cordelle. J. Azoca on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Liverpool player was J. Iros. M. Alaimo turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 6 - 0.
