24-07-2012 19.20
Clouds darkened the skies at
San Theodorum Arena as 960 spectators turned up for the match.
Stefan Prager was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jenne Van Ackerbroeck and
Heinz Balliet.
LeoTauRex tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Lineup: Valzania - Lo Giacco, Cannelli - Troilo, Zülow, Caloisi, Fantappiè, Nocciolini - Calabro, Campesi, Fino.
R.C.D. decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players took the field: Garófalo - Román, Sánchez, Irving - Abizanda, Fruhmann, Meléndez, Barrero, Armaño - Davesne, Werle.
Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for R.C.D..
J. Peñafiel was called on to replace R.C.D.'s
C. Werle after 5 minutes following a nasty collision.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 15 minutes into the match, and
T. Sánchez wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
A. Campesi's lightning pace was too much for
T. Sánchez who could only look on as the LeoTauRex player blasted one home. 1 - 1.
Making his way up the middle 31 minutes into the match,
P. Nocciolini almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
V. Garófalo blocked it to keep the score level.
32 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
D. Davesne, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
It might be a while before the fans see R.C.D.'s
J. Meléndez again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 34 minute mark. He was replaced by
R. Bernat.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
R.C.D. claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
49 minutes into the game,
M. Barrero had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
Some great play up the middle by LeoTauRex led to a chance for
R. Troilo to score after 56 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
After 78 minutes, R.C.D. put themselves up 1 - 2, as
R. Armaño finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
Some fine movement on the left led to a R.C.D. goal after 82 minutes, making it 1 - 3.
M. Barrero was noted down as the scorer.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by R.C.D., with 51 percent of the ball.
Most important LeoTauRex player was
A. Campesi.
P. Lo Giacco on the other hand, had a terrible day.
R.C.D.'s best player was
M. Barrero.
R. Bernat turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 1 - 3.
