2105 spectators arrived at
Templum Basiliensis, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Jacopo Ravosanis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Franziskus Denzler and
Rick de Reiziger.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Talentebs.
Lineup: Meira - Cartasegna, Stridstrand, Rama, Steffani, Velotti - Karstedt, Hartmetz, Leuppi, Roellinger - Turpin.
Central tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
Starters: Karlovšek - Hernández Alba, Nava, Wegberg - Görkemli, Ponte, Priemeier, Mollo, Camaro - Patureau, Baldenegro.
Central used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Talentebs took the lead 17 minutes in, as
A. Steffani broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
The Talentebs free kick 22 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
A. Turpin, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0!
By now, the players in Talentebs felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
26 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
A. Turpin broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Talentebs.
With 33 minutes played, Talentebs's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
A. Velotti he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 4 - 0.
4 - 0 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Talentebs, with 61 percent of the ball.
With 62 minutes having been played, his teammates looked on in disbelief as
J. Ponte thoughtlessly misplayed the ball, setting up Talentebs's
A. Turpin for an easy goal. 5 - 0.
That made three goals for
A. Turpin and he was marked down for the hat trick.
Some things can only be learned through experience, and
J. Wegberg should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Talentebs a goal with 68 minutes of the match played.
Talentebs's
T. Roellinger was shown a yellow card after 81 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
M. Nava's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Central, he bravely continued in the match.
Central had a fair chance to reply after 84 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end
H. Baldenegro was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish.
Talentebs claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
The most dominating Talentebs player was without a doubt
H. Karstedt.
C. Hartmetz turned in a dismal performance, however.
Central's best player was
J. Ponte.
M. Nava was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 5 - 0.
