previous 2/10 next 4/10  S83 4 - 2 BlueEleven (393542564)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 1695 to Sirius Sky Arena. Joakim Johansson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Cesare Lovisi and Guillaume Macé. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for S83. Starters: Majstorović - Doroslovački, Osric, Novović - Pataj, Sokol, Vuchelich, Ujejski - Kovac, Gojenola, Tamburović.

BlueEleven tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. They fielded: Żarski - Hastrup, Svecz, Margoni - Cox, Ringe, Tokola, Samsiri, Ooijer - Ravelli, Moroni.

After 24 minutes of play, G. Novović gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. With 35 minutes played, S83 put themselves up 2 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to N. Sokol, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. 37 minutes in, BlueEleven's Z. Svecz received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, K. Osric got himself booked. The manager of S83 was not happy. S83 had to make a substitution after 39 minutes. A. Kovac limped off the field and was replaced by A. Bubičić. BlueEleven came close to narrowing the gap when Z. Svecz's free kick nearly made it past the outstretched hands of M. Majstorović after 41 minutes. S83 solidified their lead at the 44 minute mark, as J. Pataj dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0. After this, you could see that the players of S83 were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. The referee showed BlueEleven's P. Samsiri the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by S83, with 51 percent of the ball.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, BlueEleven's P. Ravelli was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 50 minutes. Y. Franchi was given a chance to change things around. Some things can only be learned through experience, and P. Hastrup should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting S83 a goal with 57 minutes of the match played. Ater 62 minutes K. Tokola seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for BlueEleven making it 3 - 1. After 70 minutes, BlueEleven switched I. Cox with E. Rapisarda, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Z. Svecz was the new captain of BlueEleven - handed the armband by the departing player. BlueEleven needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes P. Samsiri made way for V. Stancu. Cheers filled the stadium as N. Sokol broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 1 to S83. S83's A. Bubičić got himself booked for a foul. BlueEleven managed to reduce the score to 4 - 2 as N. Ringe finished off a well-played combination from the left, easily carving through the defence. BlueEleven kept trying to force their way through on the right side and P. Hastrup got his chance after 83 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. N. Ringe really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by P. Margoni after a corner. After 88 minutes, BlueEleven were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. P. Hastrup did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. BlueEleven had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

S83's top performer was clearly G. Novović. D. Ujejski turned in a dismal performance, however. BlueEleven's best player was Y. Franchi. G. Moroni was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 2.
