previous 2/10 next 4/10  TGH 2 - 1 UWT (393579391)

3953 spectators arrived at THG Stadium, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Sandro Certanini was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jef Scheerlinck and Diederick van Bruchem. TGH had chosen a strategic 5-2-3 formation. Lineup: Fuendetodos - 栗原 (Kurihara), Beedle, Bretoni, Erasmus, Saccone - Rantavuori, Kirilov - Thomas, Ternent, Fraser.

UWT decided to use a 5-5-0 set up. The following players had been chosen: Török - F. Nagy, Bálint, Szabó, Dunai, Apáti - Hugason, Monteleone, Melone, Swärdgren, Baquero -.

UWT displayed their ability to play creatively. 2 minutes into the match, a typically brave header by L. Baquero from A. Hugason's cross looped just over the opposing goalkeeper's desperate reach. Goal for UWT, making the score 0 - 1. 44 minutes into the game, UWT seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. With 44 minutes played, G. Fraser of TGH fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Halftime score was 0 - 1. UWT had most of the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

During the break, UWT's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. TGH showed their counterattack skill 59 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with P. Bretoni scoring uncontested for 1 - 1. G. Fraser gave TGH the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 73 minutes into the game, UWT had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. Possession in this half belonged to UWT, who controlled the ball 73 percent of the time.

The most dominating TGH player was without a doubt A. Saccone. H. Ternent turned in a dismal performance, however. J. Swärdgren performed admirably for UWT. On the other hand, P. Török's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
