The 57383 spectators at
Minino Stadium were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Lars Bulkin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Reinhart Ludwigshafen and
Dennis Solgaard.
Pitufilla had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
Starters: Gómez de la Serna - Mota, Mocca - Barjuan, Holvia, Avidan, Caruana, Schlotzhauser - O´Brien, Cologne, Beltrán.
yorch decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Larsson - Ljungblom, Robledales, Liebhauser - Ødegård, Berzal, Izubejeres, Mavi, Mörnsten - Jalvanti, Aktunç.
I. Avidan's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some breathtaking tricks that bamboozled the defence.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 17 minutes into the match left yorch's
J. Jalvanti completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
A handball in the penalty area gave the home team a penalty 18 minutes into the match, and
M. Caruana was able to score, taking the scoreline to 1 - 1.
T. Cologne gave Pitufilla the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1
M. Caruana struck a 30 metre free kick home 25 minutes into the match. 3 - 1 for the home team.
Confident in their lead, Pitufilla's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
The visitors replied 34 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 3 - 2, as
T. Ødegård dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper.
3 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Pitufilla enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 68 percent of possession.
As the game started to slip away for yorch, the manager decided to change the tactical approach.
A. Aktunç came close to levelling the score 69 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post.
The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 73 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but when
T. Ødegård tried to finish the attack, he couldn't deliver the shot hard enough to seriously challenge the keeper.
With 77 minutes played, Pitufilla's
N. O´Brien almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
After 83 minutes, Pitufilla raised their score by one when
S. Barjuan's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
N. O´Brien. 4 - 2.
Possession in this half belonged to Pitufilla, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.
Pitufilla's best player was
C. Holvia.
A. Mota was a disappointment, however.
J. Jalvanti performed admirably for yorch.
On the other hand,
K. Mavi's play was disheartening.
The match ends 4 - 2.
