Clear skies welcomed the 55000 spectators who had made their way to
The Drunk Tank.
Salomon Ammon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Markus Grieß and
Mihai Bădescu.
Bandits decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Koreček - Prego, Rosa, Toivokoski - Brennan, McCaughan, Smyth, McMullan, Cifra - Moore, Müller.
Tato had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation.
They fielded: Fasoulas - O'Kelly, Días de Arcaya, 智陽 (Zhiyang), Richard - Crilly, Ramić, Gallivan, Lynch - Caridade, Solano.
Tato were relying on their ability to counter-attack.
23 minutes into the game,
J. Lynch had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
25 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Bandits to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
K. Brennan alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
Bandits could have put themselves ahead after 27 minutes but
S. Cifra missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
A foul called during a Tato counterattack resulted in a great chance to score, but
C. Gallivan's shot rattled off the post.
An accurate cross from
K. Brennan of Bandits was met with a wonderful glancing header from
E. Müller, hitting the inside base of the post before nestling into the back of the net for 1 - 0.
Bandits's
E. Müller saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 32 minutes.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Bandits, with 61 percent of the ball.
E. Müller had a fantastic opportunity to put Bandits up another goal 51 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Tato almost scored after a swift counterattack 62 minutes into the game, but
A. Caridade put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal.
E. Müller wanted to play on, but the Bandits coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
Y. Enveja.
Bandits put in a good effort on the right, but
C. Moore saw his volley fly wide of the mark 72 minutes into the game.
The referee showed Tato's
A. Crilly the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
The counterattacks of Tato were deadly and 78 minutes into the game,
A. Crilly received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 1 - 1.
Bandits claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 61 percent.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed.
A well placed corner kick from
S. Toivokoski was followed by
V. Prego's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Bandits, the score now 2 - 1.
Game over, Bandits win!
C. Moore performed admirably for Bandits.
M. McCaughan was a disappointment, however.
Most important Tato player was
M. Solano.
On the other hand,
P. Ramić's play was disheartening.
