previous 6/10 next 8/10  WATER 1 - 3 Amialeiros (393610074)

Clouds darkened the skies at A Catedral as 65200 spectators turned up for the match. Xabel Le Fort was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jozias Roukens and Floriano Gagliardelli. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Lisboa derby and the crowd was divided evenly. WATER had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Daddario - Zdelar, Al-Hamdan, Chirea - Santos, Couto, Doevendans, Caldeira, Germano - van der Veer, Tomasson.

Amialeiros started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Campanella - Kasabov, Batzu, Castaño - Moskwiak, Martin, Mercês, Weichelt, Duarte - Hrabina, Pipão.

Amialeiros's J. Weichelt's long shot really ought to have found the net 4 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. WATER's H. Santos was shown a yellow card after 6 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Amialeiros's P. Hrabina managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 26 minutes. 0 - 1. The crowd was on its feet 33 minutes into the match, as WATER's J. Caldeira found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser. The guests almost went up by a goal after 37 minutes when O. Duarte came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. After a fine move down the middle N. Tomasson nearly gave the home side a goal after 38 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Amialeiros claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

P. Hrabina of Amialeiros seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by B. Martin. Amialeiros's J. Moskwiak made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 50 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. With clinical precision, the cross from winger J. Moskwiak found its way to A. Pipão's head, and a screaming header gave Amialeiros the goal after 53 minutes played. 1 - 3 After this, you could see that the players of Amialeiros were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. WATER's N. Tomasson left the field after 64 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was D. Bognetti. Amialeiros had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

The most dominating WATER player was without a doubt J. Caldeira. On the other hand, I. Daddario's play was disheartening. Amialeiros's top performer was clearly B. Martin. O. Duarte was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
