previous 3/10 next 5/10  Warszawa 3 - 1 Fireflying (393621418)

2469 punters turned up at estadio Wojska Polskiego, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Heladio Agar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Csaba Joó and George Salis. Warszawa tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Teles - Allouche, Czepczyński, Bubiak - Fitek, Castanheta, Watoła, Hautbois, Milczanowski - Pająk, Löpfe.

Fireflying started off with a 3-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Romão - Mogo, Zähner, Egas - Eschenburg, Vaher, Yngvesson, Čeko - Reus, Iliev.

For their match strategy, Warszawa had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. A. Milczanowski would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. E. Bil entered the game for Warszawa as the match clock showed 5 minutes. J. Watoła of Warszawa was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Warszawa took the lead after 32 minutes as a result of M. Castanheta's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. After 34 minutes Warszawa tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, R. Fitek's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. 37 minutes in, Fireflying's S. Čeko received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 42 minutes into the game, Fireflying seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to weak. Coming through the middle R. Egas almost scored the equaliser for Fireflying after 43 minutes, but M. Teles made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Fireflying had most of the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

During the break, Fireflying's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organisation. 62 minutes into the game, Fireflying seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a inadequate level of organisation. The coach of Warszawa was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 70 minutes, R. Milleiro came on for M. Hautbois. Warszawa put themselves up 2 - 0 when M. Castanheta broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Fireflying reduced the lead after 77 minutes to 2 - 1 as G. Reus easily chipped the ball past the home side's keeper after a dazzling play from the right. 78 minutes into the game, Warszawa were awarded a penalty that R. Fitek turned into 3 - 1 without a problem. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

The most dominating Warszawa player was without a doubt A. Löpfe. On the other hand, M. Teles's play was disheartening. S. Vaher performed admirably for Fireflying. A. Romão turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
