(393641545)

31-07-2012 21.30
Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Rhinos Charge saw a crowd turnout of 985.
Pablo Altamira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Giovanni Longo and
Marcin Kłodnicki.
Rhinos decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
The following players took the field: Connah - Coyne, Wake - Alexa, Deane, Adamidis, Stockman, Jones - Simmonds, O'Connor, Huzzey.
Pigs tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Bayo - Lagin, Neumühlen, Warendorf - Campbell, Köves, Harrison, Keskin - Carlier, Dunn, García-Cardo.
Pigs mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
A. Carlier was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 12 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
Pigs were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
The visiting
M. García-Cardo was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 13 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
Pigs increased their lead after 27 minutes when
A. Carlier broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay.
27 minutes into the game, Pigs seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
inadequate level of organisation.
A penalty was awarded after 31 minutes, and
J. Neumühlen made the most of his chance to put Pigs up by another goal. 0 - 3 for the visitors.
By now, the players in Pigs felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
B. Stockman of Rhinos received a yellow card after 33 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3.
Possession in this half belonged to Pigs, who controlled the ball 65 percent of the time.
Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of Pigs was able to get his message across, and raised Pigs's organisation to
solid.
With 56 minutes played, Pigs put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
J. Neumühlen.
After 58 minutes of play, Rhinos's
P. Adamidis unexpectedly struck an inside out ball from no angle at all and
D. O'Connor slotted it into the net for 1 - 4.
After 60 minutes, Pigs's
M. García-Cardo burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 5.
73 minutes into the match, the speedy
D. Huzzey easily outpaced
J. Neumühlen, chipped the keeper and made the score 2 - 5.
A. Carlier wanted to play on, but the Pigs coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 75 minutes into the game by
B. Sewell.
76 minutes into the game, Pigs worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
N. Connah got a fingertip on
M. García-Cardo's shot from the left 77 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
It was obvious that team Pigs had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings.
After 81 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
T. Campbell who increased Pigs's lead to 2 - 6.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Rhinos's
R. Coyne was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 88 minutes.
T. Davies was given a chance to change things around.
Rhinos needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 88 minutes
D. O'Connor made way for
P. Perkins.
After 88 minutes, Rhinos switched
J. Wake with
R. Narbett, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Pigs claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.
Rhinos's best player was
D. Simmonds.
However,
N. Connah made a disastrous appearance.
Most important Pigs player was
M. García-Cardo.
J. Bayo turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 2 - 6.
