previous 4/5 next 1/5  Hvar 8 - 0 RSL (393657620)

The crowd of 2969 turning up at "Kiva" Football House today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. Johnny Hoffman was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ali Yuvacı and Brian Steen Mølbach Olsen. Hvar tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. Lineup: Tuninetti - Roeting, Redavid - Muolo, Perez Vazquez, Turrini, Pazzaglia, Montella - Della Casa, Mulargiu, Guidorzi.

RSL started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Federici - Baca, Farrow, Martin - Prewitt, Farley, Matthews, Sheppard - Veegens, Heiberg, Papazisis.

Hvar took the lead 19 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as G. Muolo elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. 22 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as G. Pazzaglia broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Hvar. After this, you could see that the players of Hvar were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. F. Perez Vazquez did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. With 26 minutes played, Hvar's V. Della Casa almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. Y. Papazisis was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! The referee showed RSL's Y. Papazisis the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. In a fantastic display of determination, Hvar's G. Pazzaglia forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Hvar to 3 - 0 as D. Guidorzi finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Hvar enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Cheers filled the stadium as C. Redavid broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 4 - 0 to Hvar. Y. Comparelli was called on to replace Hvar's G. Pazzaglia after 60 minutes following a nasty collision. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Hvar scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for C. Redavid after 68 minutes. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Hvar's Y. Comparelli increasing the lead to 6 - 0. L. Roeting increased Hvar's lead to 7 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. M. Montella squirmed through their central defence after 80 minutes, increasing the lead to 8 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Hvar, with 81 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Hvar player was without a doubt V. Della Casa. F. Perez Vazquez was a disappointment, however. M. Heiberg performed admirably for RSL. On the other hand, F. Prewitt's play was disheartening. The match ends 8 - 0.
