31-07-2012 19.15
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2001 to
Kookaburra Stadium.
Augusto Conselheiro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Carmelo Ortiz and
Mario Zanderink.
Percoke tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Onnis - Merico, Duroni, Šlapák, Eler, Maese - Ruggeri, Maraviglia, Baffi, Toffoli, Damiani -.
Atletico started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
Lineup: Eberhardt - Delpino, Yañez, Jäkkö, Demichelis - Harrer, Crespi, Lindenthaler, Gemperli, Liang Lee - Just.
Atletico displayed their ability to play creatively.
As the 1 minute mark approached, the Percoke coach decided it was time for a substitution.
O. Onnis reluctantly made way for
T. Lorito on the pitch.
Percoke were very close to putting themselves one up after 7 minutes as
F. Toffoli got through on the left, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
P. Delpino got himself booked. The manager of Atletico was not happy.
After 21 minutes, Atletico's
H. Just made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
Percoke's
U. Eler put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 26 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock.
The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1.
Possession of the ball saw an equal split between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
U. Gemperli had a good opportunity to give Atletico the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save.
After 55 minutes, the Percoke coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
J. Šlapák off the field.
A. Correzzola took his place.
57 minutes into the game, Percoke wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
E. Maraviglia gave
F. Correzzola a quick hug as he left the field.
The Percoke captaincy was handed to
V. Damiani.
A. Correzzola of Percoke received a yellow card after 72 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
With 73 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
P. Delpino put the ball away for 1 - 2.
With 75 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Percoke resulted in a counterattack that set
V. Damiani free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
Atletico claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
V. Damiani performed admirably for Percoke.
F. Toffoli on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating Atletico player was without a doubt
D. Yañez.
However,
F. Eberhardt made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 2.
