Southpark 2 - 0 Brunohias
(393690395)

01-08-2012 09.30
A scorching day at
Cartman Arena, where 3189 spectators were in place for today's match.
Wilsão Barreiro was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Barry Redmond and
Voldemārs Blaubuks.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Southpark.
The following players had been chosen: Bartolucci - Capra, Buttarelli, Revetria - Renoir, Yavuk, Ress, Joffe, Reiter - Del Pia, Mattiolo.
Brunohias decided to use a 5-2-3 set up.
Starters: Sergitten - Haeseler, Nunez de Gosau, Zintl, Furth, Wedershoven - Gelfort, Konetzke - Laudehr, Panicker, Fuernsinn.
It was an obvious ambition of Southpark to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
The Southpark free kick 31 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
J. Renoir, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 1 - 0!
36 minutes into the game, Brunohias seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
After 38 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
K. Reiter might have resulted in another goal for Southpark. However,
B. Sergitten made a spectacular save.
42 minutes into the match,
M. Buttarelli could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar.
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Southpark, with 65 percent of the ball.
The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Brunohias had
solid organisation.
Usually a powerful player on the field,
B. Revetria looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun.
H. Ress could have put Southpark up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 66 minutes.
Southpark were given a gift! The ref dubiously awarded them a penalty 68 minutes into the match, which was neatly put away by
M. Buttarelli. 2 - 0 for the home side.
R. Wedershoven received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 72 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
Southpark's
M. Buttarelli put in a disappointing effort on a penalty after 73 minutes, firing just wide of the goal.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
C. Fuernsinn got himself booked. The manager of Brunohias was not happy.
After 80 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Brunohias found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
weak.
A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 82 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but
B. Sergitten got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar.
Southpark enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
Most important Southpark player was
M. Mattiolo.
G. Bartolucci was a disappointment, however.
The most dominating Brunohias player was without a doubt
L. Panicker.
On the other hand,
B. Sergitten's play was disheartening.
The match ends 2 - 0.
