Dark skies made the crowd of 2777 at Seattle Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Birger Torset was the appointed referee with assistance provided by István Erdősi and Pedro Fermín Valéncia. A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Márklári. The following players had been chosen: Ponte - Emaldi, Paatola, Tesakov, Górczyk - Omaszta, Mastrini, Kulseng - Hankavuori, Ross, Borda.

Márklári were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Frankfurter were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. L. Conidi was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Frankfurter counterattack from the left after 24 minutes. His neat finish made the score 0 - 1. Márklári's A. Mastrini was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. A loud groan was heard from the fans of Frankfurter, as G. Bevilacqua left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match. J. Barrionuevo took his place on the field. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, I. Zúñiga Sarmiento took over the role of being the Frankfurter captain. Márklári put pressure on the visitors' central defence 37 minutes into the game, but V. Tesakov couldn't find an opening. After 40 minutes, R. Omaszta made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. Márklári took the lead 43 minutes in, as J. Borda broke through on the left and put the 2 - 1 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Frankfurter's M. Sande left the field after 44 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was S. Chahoushizadeh. A penalty 44 minutes into the game gave the home side a chance at adding to the score, but an overconfident J. Emaldi shot the ball wide trying to put it away in the top corner. The referee showed Márklári's J. Borda the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Márklári, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

A well placed corner kick from J. Emaldi was followed by J. Paatola's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for Márklári, the score now 3 - 1. B. Čiháček was called on to replace Frankfurter's B. Lage after 53 minutes following a nasty collision. The away team improved the scoreline to 3 - 2, as L. Conidi struck home, set up well by a play on the left 73 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as P. Hankavuori broke through, making the score 4 - 2 for Márklári. P. Hankavuori of Márklári received a yellow card after 81 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. After 82 minutes, Márklári were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise. J. Borda did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Márklári's M. Ross increasing the lead to 5 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Márklári, with 59 percent of the ball.

Márklári's top performer was clearly V. Tesakov. A. Ponte turned in a dismal performance, however. Frankfurter's best player was L. Conidi. However, J. Barbera made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 2.
