1372 spectators had come to
Szalmazsák SE Arena this cloudy day.
Ivan Ballosera was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Burkhard Thalhammer and
Gerd van Vliet.
Szalmazsák started off with a 2-5-3 lineup.
They fielded: Palik - Navarro, Csendér - Bartyik, Zysk, Hirvivuori, Mugglin, Laurinyecz - Csimasz, Gersits, Sudár.
zöldek tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Avitan - Blasco, Piutunen, Ascarza - Syversen, Lejeune, Boeckx, Hacke-Dicht, Montvai - Møller, Euleutério.
zöldek used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
zöldek had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 3 minutes in when
A. Møller came up alone against
S. Palik who managed a block.
zöldek took the lead 4 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle.
J. Hacke-Dicht was the scorer.
With 13 minutes played, after a good run down the left,
M. Zysk went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving.
With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 14 minutes gave Szalmazsák a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
I. Csimasz stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1
After 30 minutes Szalmazsák's
S. Palik limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
The terraces were silenced after 38 minutes when zöldek's
R. Ascarza put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
K. Montvai wanted to play on, but the zöldek coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 46 minutes into the game by
R. Cassani.
R. Ascarza left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 50 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
T. Biedermann was the replacement.
After 51 minutes, zöldek's
A. Møller burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3.
The players of zöldek now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
The zöldek players could smell victory in the air.
A. Møller wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Z. Zrínyi after 55 minutes.
As
H. Euleutério had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the zöldek player a red card without batting an eyelid.
I. Laurinyecz of Szalmazsák was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle.
zöldek were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
86 minutes into the match,
Z. Zrínyi came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
88 minutes had been played and the home team was awarded a penalty. The guests' keeper dived the right way, but
V. Navarro was still able to reduce the score to 2 - 3.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by zöldek, with 53 percent of the ball.
Szalmazsák's best player was
P. Hirvivuori.
M. Zysk on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The most dominating zöldek player was without a doubt
G. Boeckx.
B. Avitan was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 3.
