previous 4/10 next 6/10  MKL75 8 - 1 broken (393782869)

Dark skies made the crowd of 60000 at KUIVIŽI a little nervous, but the rain held off. Håkan Persson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bruno de Mérode and Larry Phillips. MKL75 had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Koch - Sartasov, Scharfenberg, Johnson - Gallagher, Kazemian, Chipende, Mérei, Stenblom - Fazzone, Günberk.

broken tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Mauriņš - Epners, Korchak - Bezpechniy, Liland, Kinely, Lūkins, Zhdakhin - Krinkin, Lisyutin, Turaids.

It was obvious that broken were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic. MKL75 took the lead after 8 minutes as a result of D. Gallagher's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. 23 minutes in, MKL75's B. Kazemian received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, P. Bezpechniy of broken spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. MKL75 solidified their lead at the 26 minute mark, as S. Fazzone dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. By now, the players in MKL75 felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. A well placed corner kick from O. Günberk was followed by M. Chipende's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for MKL75, the score now 3 - 0. With 35 minutes played, MKL75 put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to S. Fazzone, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, broken's G. Zhdakhin somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for G. Krinkin, who struck for 4 - 1. 42 minutes into the game, J. Mauriņš had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came D. Sarreiro. W. Kinely was the new captain of broken - handed the armband by the departing player. The home side's S. Fazzone came close to extending the lead 43 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but D. Sarreiro managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Halftime score was 4 - 1. MKL75 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 69 percent.

The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed broken's coach gave K. Cers the opportunity the player had been hoping for. W. Kinely reluctantly left the field. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, S. Liland took over the role of being the broken captain. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, broken's S. Liland was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. A. Polianitsa was given a chance to change things around. D. Sarreiro became the new broken captain. MKL75 managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when S. Fazzone cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. By then S. Fazzone had scored three goals - a hat trick! 81 minutes were showing on the scoreboard when MKL75's B. Kazemian received his second yellow card and was sent off. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in MKL75's S. Sartasov increasing the lead to 6 - 1. With 85 minutes played, A. Lūkins of broken fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Things were deteriorating for the away team as MKL75 scored another to make it 7 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for M. Chipende after 86 minutes. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. D. Gallagher squirmed through their central defence after 88 minutes, increasing the lead to 8 - 1. MKL75 had most of the ball, with 77 percent of possession.

The most dominating MKL75 player was without a doubt O. Günberk. On the other hand, D. Gallagher's play was disheartening. broken's best player was G. Krinkin. D. Sarreiro was a disappointment, however. The match ends 8 - 1.
