Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 2566 to
Lior Teddy.
Ralph Ravn was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Björn Magnusson and
Hieronymus Immervoll.
B.L.J. had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Aguado - Bar, Larraín, Viard - Ginter, Banay, Paraguaio, Skwiercz, Együd - Iversen, Umbarila.
O.V.S.A started off with a 4-3-3 lineup.
Lineup: Šufinskas - Barreau, Dambitz, Górlicki, Waki - Krenn, Schoenbeck, Tsitsos - Brotons, Kudzia, Maillard.
The strategy for O.V.S.A was to use their ability to press.
O.V.S.A's
F. Maillard was shown a yellow card after 13 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
In a fantastic display of determination, B.L.J.'s
C. Együd forced himself to his feet, after an opponent viciously knocked him down.
O.V.S.A pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times.
Making his way up the middle 32 minutes into the match,
E. Bar almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
V. Šufinskas blocked it to keep the score level.
With 34 minutes played,
I. Ginter of B.L.J. fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
B.L.J. fans held their breath as
L. Umbarila scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0!
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
B.L.J. enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.
The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed O.V.S.A's coach gave
J. Svenn the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
E. Kudzia reluctantly left the field.
O.V.S.A needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 46 minutes
V. Šufinskas made way for
O. Neves.
B.L.J. managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
L. Umbarila cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
O.V.S.A's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
With 61 minutes played,
K. Skwiercz could have brought this one home for B.L.J. as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
B.L.J. had most of the ball, with 67 percent of possession.
B.L.J.'s best player was
L. Iversen.
However,
I. Ginter made a disastrous appearance.
Most important O.V.S.A player was
R. Tsitsos.
M. Krenn on the other hand, had a terrible day.
