It had rained all day, but 1165 hardy fans still made it out to Caroalcas Arena. Luigi Ameri was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vasile Răduţ and Jan-Willem Philippens. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for CAC IF. Basque seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. D. Dyrberg could have put CAC IF into the lead after 33 minutes, but the free kick went just wide. With 34 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Basque resulted in a counterattack that set P. Ortiz el Viejo free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. There was concern in the stands when, at the 37 minute mark, Basque's L. Mägi hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. F. Thisted had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave W. Schempp from CAC IF a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 42 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! R. Westerlaken's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Basque, he bravely continued in the match. Halftime score was 0 - 0. CAC IF claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

W. Schempp knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the CAC IF player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. Basque's G. Vime refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 65 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, P. Ortiz el Viejo got himself booked. The manager of Basque was not happy. Making his way up the middle 84 minutes into the match, L. Kristiansen almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert H. Vergara blocked it to keep the score level. CAC IF had a chance to take the lead after L. Kristiansen's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 86 minutes. CAC IF had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

CAC IF's top performer was clearly V. Hansson. D. Dyrberg turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Basque player was V. Fetz. On the other hand, F. Thisted's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 0.
