When an opportunity appeared for him, as it did 33 minutes into the game, speedy U. Aruväli came to the rescue and stopped the attack. Hennes had to manage with a reduced squad after 35 minutes, as F. Berneuchen got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Unfortunately for Olimpo, C. Oyarbide was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field. L. Quartz replaced him. After 37 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for A. Cergueira who increased Olimpo's lead to 0 - 5. The players of Olimpo now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Olimpo will have to do without V. Listov for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 38 minute mark. He was substituted by A. Kleemola. Hennes needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 39 minutes C. Vagner made way for J. Grohnert. It was 0 - 5 at the break. Olimpo enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

After 50 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave H. Rønnov a chance to increase the lead for Olimpo, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 6. After 53 minutes, Hennes's L. Gaias swiftly ran past L. Quartz and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 6. With 65 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed E. Iroldi of Olimpo to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 7. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Olimpo's A. Cergueira somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for A. Bargueño, who struck for 1 - 8. D. Chavez increased Olimpo's lead to 1 - 9 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. Olimpo increased their lead after 81 minutes when M. Zsula broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 10, much to the home crowd's dismay. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Hennes's coach gave S. Coche the opportunity the player had been hoping for. K. Temple reluctantly left the field. After 89 minutes, Hennes switched J. Alcañiz with M. Stawik, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
