Gonfie clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Gonfie created a good opportunity to score 7 minutes into the match when H. Plate's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Gonfie's A. Kropornicki refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 31 minutes. Slack defending gave Gonfie a chance to take the lead with 35 minutes played, but T. Sveen's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. Gonfie had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. They were singing the praises of A. Kropornicki 38 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Gonfie. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, J. Tiefenbach got himself booked. The manager of Gonfie was not happy. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave B. Kreutzfeld from Grue a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It was 1 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Gonfie, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

Gonfie had a magnificent opportunity after 49 minutes as A. Kropornicki hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. S. Babović's lack of experience almost gave Grue a goal after 56 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. H. Plate could have put Gonfie up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 66 minutes. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Gonfie coach let R. Barreira replace O. Sazama after 70 minutes. C. Schleiss left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 80 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. R. Slippens was the replacement. With 82 minutes played, Gonfie's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to R. Ancău he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 2 - 0. Gonfie enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.

R. Barreira performed admirably for Gonfie. P. Bańkowski was a disappointment, however. Grue's top performer was clearly C. Fronhausen. F. Jul turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
