(393898286)

08-08-2012 02.30
2740 punters turned up at
MIUS stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Boe Nellemann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alain Fleischli and
Mauro Domínguez.
MIUS had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Paulitz - Koerner, 本田 (Honda), van Voorthuizen - 杉山 (Sugiyama), Mercier, Feijão, Likouriotis, Selleri - 野村 (Nomura), 三谷 (Mitani).
Pechs decided to use a 2-5-3 set up.
Lineup: Piroddi - Araluce, Manasseri - Termali, Vaz, Pochettini, Ferrazzano, Sultan - Sava, Dos Santos, Mereu.
MIUS saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
MIUS's
寿. 本田 (Honda) tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
Pechs's
M. Sava could have put the guests one up after 24 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
S. Paulitz was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
A. Vaz was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 29 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
34 minutes into the game,
A. Pochettini had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
G. Cefola.
Pechs's
G. Mereu had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 38 minutes having been played.
G. Gilardone was the replacement.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 42 minutes into the match, and
M. Sava wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1.
Pechs enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
With the scoreboard showing that 48 minutes had been played, Pechs nearly put themselves up another goal after
F. Sultan came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save.
After 66 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
G. Gilardone to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 2.
The home crowd was not impressed when
G. Gilardone came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 70 minutes. Pechs were now up 0 - 3.
A. Likouriotis of MIUS received a yellow card after 74 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
MIUS's
達. 杉山 (Sugiyama) got himself booked for a foul.
A drive down the left side allowed
G. Cefola to get in close and score another goal for Pechs after 83 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 4.
Pechs had most of the ball, with 64 percent of possession.
The most dominating MIUS player was without a doubt
S. Paulitz.
On the other hand,
R. van Voorthuizen's play was disheartening.
Most important Pechs player was
G. Gilardone.
C. Dos Santos was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 4.
